Job summary

Turquoise Health is seeking a product-minded Design Engineer to bridge design intent and the shipped experience. You’ll evolve Pit Viper, Turquoise Health’s design system and component library, and work directly in product code to improve usability, consistency, accessibility, and polish of our applications.

You’ll build reusable pv-components, define APIs, and ensure compatibility with Vue and native Web Components across server-rendered surfaces.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building production web interfaces with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript or TypeScript.
• 1+ years of direct, hands-on experience building or maintaining a design system, component library, or shared UI framework.
• Strong visual and interaction-design judgment.
• Production-level experience with Vue (or a comparable component framework).
• Experience implementing accessibility standards (WCAG) in shipped components.
• A portfolio, GitHub, or work sample showing before/after component or interaction work.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, document, and maintain reusable pv-components within our internal design system (PitViper)
• Create thoughtful component APIs, composition patterns, variants, interaction states, and extension points that serve emerging product needs
• Ensure components work naturally within Vue applications while remaining useful as native Web Components in HTML and other server-rendered product surfaces
• Partner closely with product designers and engineers throughout the development process, from early exploration through production implementation
• Work directly in application code to refine layouts, interactions, responsive behavior, typography, spacing, focus management, transitions, and feedback states
• Last-mile design delivery: implementation of details that are often missed between a design file and production, including loading, empty, error, success, disabled, hover, and keyboard-navigation states
• Review product surfaces for visual, behavioral, and accessibility inconsistencies, then fix them at the appropriate level: within the feature, shared application code, or Pit Viper
• Improve the documentation, testing, release processes, and contribution practices that make Pit Viper easier for other teams to adopt
