ZTransform has a great opportunity for a Senior Design Engineer to join our team. This is a full-time position that involves systems engineering across various projects in broadcast, corporate media, higher education, and government sectors. Projects typically involve broadcast and high-end audio-visual technologies in fixed facilities as well as mobile and temporary technical spaces.

The Senior Design Engineer is responsible for the successful execution of systems design, configuration, commissioning, testing, training, and launch support for assigned projects. The role also includes troubleshooting and remediation of performance issues in client environments as part of our Managed Services. The Senior Design Engineer will collaborate closely with the General Manager, project management, integration, finance, and other engineering resources. Additionally, the role involves developing company processes and technical workflows as the company grows. A strong understanding of legacy, contemporary, and emerging technologies is essential to ensure client satisfaction with all deployments.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead or support the technical design and execution of broadcast and multimedia projects within a matrixed environment, coordinating with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
2. Manage all technical aspects of projects, including pre-design, detailed design, deployment, testing, configuration, training, and readiness support.
3. Develop and present project change orders and labor utilization models.
4. Become proficient in all relevant software applications such as AutoCAD, MS Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Wrike.
5. Establish and maintain relationships with client stakeholders, providing timely updates on project status, changes, and issues.
6. Travel to project sites as needed, with potential for extended stays during certain periods.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a lead or senior systems engineering role in a project-based organization.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Visio and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of SMPTE standards, especially ST2110.
• Experience with IT networking equipment such as routers, switches, firewalls, and VLANs.
• Proficiency in current and emerging video compression technologies.
• Experience with hardware virtualization.
• Knowledge of media workflow and asset management systems.
• Understanding of distribution formats and systems including RF, streaming, and satellite.
• Experience with distributed communication systems.
• Commitment to documentation and change management processes.
• Effective communication skills across diverse audiences.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and organize effectively.

Additional Requirements

• Willingness to travel, work overtime, and on weekends with short notice.
• Willing to undergo a background check.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Must be 18 years or older with a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
