Job summary

gpac seeks a Senior Design Engineer in Grapeland, Texas to lead the design and development of steel joist and decking solutions. This hands-on role focuses on safe, efficient, and innovative designs and solving complex engineering challenges.

The candidate will review designs for quality and code compliance, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and mentor junior staff. A PE license and a Civil/Structural/Architectural Engineering degree are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural/Architectural Engineering.
• Strong experience in structural engineering and/or steel design.
• PE license required.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.

About The Opportunity

A well-established manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join its engineering team at its Grapeland, Texas facility.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on the design and development of safe, efficient, and innovative steel joist and decking solutions. The Senior Design Engineer will provide technical expertise, solve complex engineering challenges, and contribute to continuous improvement across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop steel joist and steel decking systems.
• Provide technical guidance on complex engineering and design challenges.
• Review designs for quality, safety, code compliance, and performance.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and other teams to deliver customer solutions.
• Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, productivity, and product quality.
• Support and mentor other design professionals as needed.
• Apply engineering standards, codes, and best practices to design projects.

Qualifications – Required

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Architectural Engineering, or related field.
• Strong experience in structural engineering and/or steel design.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles, design practices, and structural systems.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Preferred

• Experience with steel joist, decking, structural steel, or metal building systems.
• Familiarity with AISC, SJI, SDI, ASCE, and applicable building codes.
• Experience with engineering/design software and automated design tools.Manufacturing environment experience.

Compensation & Benefits

• $120,000-$140,000 Base Salary
• ROA Bonus: Up to 33%
• Company Profit Sharing: Up to 15%
• 3 Weeks PTO
