Job summary

Codebridge is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to own the user experience of a UK insurance tech product. You will design flows, implement in React, and keep a cross-channel design system coherent even in environments we don't control.

In this role you will ship end-to-end journeys across AI assistants, collaborate with engineers, and shape insurer-facing dashboards. Advanced English required; insurance domain experience a plus.

Job description

Codebridge is looking for a Senior Design Engineer to own the user experience of a UK insurance technology product. We want a designer who ships — someone who designs a flow and then builds it in React, and who can hold a design system together across channels we don't control. The product is already in production with a major carrier, and most of the customer experience happens inside an AI assistant.

Responsibilities:

• Take responsibility for the end-user experience in every channel the product appears in, AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude included
• Create and maintain a shared set of interaction patterns, so that a journey built once behaves identically wherever it runs
• Establish and safeguard the design system: tokens, per-insurer theming, accessibility, and the limits of environments we don't own
• Treat disclosures, consent, confirmation and hand-off as part of the journey itself, so that regulatory requirements read as good product
• Work with engineering on the conversational layer — tone, turn structure, and the testing that proves it holds up
• Take charge of the insurer-facing console: setup, monitoring, and the audit trail a regulated business depends on
• Prototype quickly, validate with real users and real insurers, and convert those findings into released product

Requirements:

• 5+ years in product or interaction design, with shipped work you can talk through from problem to release
• You design in code — confident maintaining a React/TypeScript component library in production rather than passing mockups to someone else
• A portfolio of intricate, high-stakes journeys in fintech, insurance, healthcare or a comparable field, where a user mistake is costly
• Deep design-systems expertise: tokens, theming, accessibility, and the rigour of designing for platforms and limitations outside your control
• Hands-on work with conversational or AI-native interfaces, plus a clear point of view on when chat is the wrong format
• Systems thinking — you shape a journey as a set of reusable building blocks rather than a sequence of screens
• Ownership and a responsible mindset, focused on outcomes
• Advanced English or higher
• An insurance background is a plus but not a must — we provide the domain context
