Our client seeks a Senior Design Engineer in a manufacturing environment to drive new product design, enhancements, and cost reductions. Strong background in SolidWorks and manufacturing like injection molding and die casting is essential.

The Design Engineer will work with cross-functional teams to translate customer requirements into manufacturable solutions while meeting performance, quality, and cost goals. This 100% onsite role is based in Owatonna, MN.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of product design or development experience.
• Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks.
• Experience with engineering analysis and FEA tools.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to lead projects and work effectively within cross-functional teams.
• Excellent communication and technical documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead product design and development activities from concept through production launch.
• Develop detailed customer, product, and functional requirements.
• Create 3D CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings using SolidWorks.
• Perform engineering calculations, tolerance analyses, and design validation activities.
• Utilize Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to evaluate and optimize product performance.
• Design components and assemblies for injection molding, die casting, and other manufacturing processes.
• Conduct and participate in Design Reviews, DFMEA, and risk assessments.
• Develop prototypes and oversee prototype evaluations.
• Support Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Execute product testing, validation, and accelerated lifecycle testing.
• Provide technical leadership for product improvements and customization efforts.
• Support manufacturing implementation and continuous improvement projects.

Our client is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to support new product development, product enhancement, and cost reduction initiatives in a manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for an engineer with a strong background in mechanical product design, SolidWorks, and manufacturing processes such as injection molding and die casting. Candidates with experience supporting products used in the construction industry or those familiar with construction-related equipment, materials, and applications are highly desired.

• Experience with DFMEA, DFM, validation testing, and prototype development

• Knowledge of product lifecycle management and new product introduction processes

• Strong problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset
