Job summary

Voss Recruitment seeks a Senior Design Engineering Manager to lead a team delivering precision components and mechanical systems for mission-critical aerospace and industrial applications. You will guide design, validate CAD outputs, and drive process improvements in a highly regulated environment.

The role requires 15+ years in mechanical design with 5+ years in leadership, plus strong GD&T, PLM/ERP knowledge, and experience with elastomeric sealing technologies.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or related field).
• Experience: 15+ years in mechanical design/product development; 5+ years in leadership.
• CAD Skills: Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks and/or CATIA.
• Core Knowledge: Strong GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and rubber molding/extrusion.
• Systems: Familiarity with PLM and ERP systems (e.g., 3DX/ENOVIA, Epicor).
• Preferred: Experience with aerospace sealing technologies and elastomeric product.

Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and resource the Design Engineering team.
• Technical Oversight: Review and approve CAD models, technical drawings, validation plans, and engineering documentation.
• Design & Optimization: Ensure execution of GD&T, DFM, and engineering best practices.
• Cross-Functional Sync: Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to support production readiness.
• Compliance: Ensure engineering activities align with AS9100, ISO 9001, FAA, and MIL-SPEC standards.
• Continuous Improvement: Streamline design processes and evaluate emerging technologies.
