Job summary

Solomon Page is seeking a Deputy General Counsel for a rapidly growing healthcare technology company in Charlotte, NC. This is a newly created in-house leadership role partnering with the GC to scale the legal function across healthcare and commercial matters.

You will lead attorneys, oversee outside counsel, manage budgets, implement processes, and provide strategic guidance on contracts, Medicare/Medicaid, drug pricing, and regulatory risk. 12+ years in-house healthcare law is preferred; J.D.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of progressive legal experience, including substantial in-house experience.
• Experience in the healthcare sector, ideally within a healthcare company such as PBM, health plan, or healthcare technology.
• Demonstrated leadership of people and teams, with ability to coach and develop attorneys.
• Experience managing legal matters, resources, outside counsel, budgeting, and process improvement.
• Strong knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations and practical guidance for senior leadership.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the GC and executive leadership on legal strategy, priorities, and risk.
• Lead and develop attorneys, set responsibilities, performance, and accountability.
• Oversee day-to-day operations, intake, prioritization, workload allocation, and service delivery.
• Build and improve department processes, workflows, and performance metrics.
• Evaluate and implement legal tech, automation, and contract lifecycle management.
• Manage outside counsel, legal expenditures, budgeting, and resource allocation.
• Establish risk assessment, matter management, escalation, and reporting frameworks.
• Provide strategic guidance on commercial contracting, PBM, pharmacy services, and partnerships.
• Advise on federal and state healthcare laws and regulations (Medicare Part D, Medicaid, pricing).
• Lead support for complex negotiations, new initiatives, and strategic transactions.
• Develop contracting standards, templates, and escalation procedures for efficient execution.
• Collaborate with Compliance, Risk, Finance, HR, Privacy, and IT to address enterprise risks.
• Identify opportunities to grow team capabilities and improve operations.
