The Gwinnett County Law Department seeks a Deputy County Attorney to provide general legal counsel to the County, its departments, and elected officials. You will supervise a team of senior assistants and handle complex matters, working closely with the County Attorney to coordinate litigation and contract work.

Responsibilities include advising clients, reviewing laws and policies, negotiating contracts, and representing clients in State and Federal courts.

Qualifikationen

• Juris Doctorate and ten years of public-sector legal experience with two years supervising staff.
• Experience in one or more of the following practice areas: real estate, zoning and land use, economic development, contracts, finance or technology.

Aufgaben

• Manage daily operations of the assigned division and supervise senior assistant county attorneys.
• Evaluate and manage complex legal matters and provide legal advice to clients and elected officials.
• Attend meetings, research legal issues, and draft opinions and strategic recommendations.
• Draft and negotiate contracts to protect the County's interests and ensure compliance.
• Represent clients in litigation at trial and appellate levels; monitor outside counsel as needed.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable laws and participate in training and education activities.
