Job summary

A leading healthcare provider in Alaska is seeking a Senior Dentist responsible for providing clinical care and mentoring staff in oral health practices. This role involves working with customer-owners regarding dental disease treatment and oral health establishment. Candidates should be graduates of accredited dental schools, licensed in Alaska, and have at least two years of experience as a Dentist, Pediatric Dentist, or Orthodontist. Additional certifications will be required for specialized practice.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a dental school accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
  • Pediatric Dentists or Orthodontists must complete a CODA-accredited advanced dental education program.
  • Licensed in the State of Alaska for specific dental specialties.
  • Two years of experience in dentistry or demonstrated proficiency at SCF.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct clinical care supporting oral health needs.
  • Mentor and coach staff according to the Nuka System of Care.

The Southcentral Foundation (SCF) Senior Dentist is responsible for a broad range of duties in partnering with customer-owners in the treatment of dental diseases and establishment of oral health. In addition to direct clinical care, the Senior Dentist is responsible for mentoring and coaching staff assigned to them on the Nuka System of Care.

Responsibilities (summary)

The Senior Dentist provides direct clinical care and collaborates with the care team to support oral health needs within SCF’s service area. The role includes mentoring and coaching staff under the Nuka System of Care.

Qualifications
  1. Graduate of a dental school accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
  2. Pediatric Dentists or Orthodontists must complete a CODA-accredited advanced dental education program in the appropriate specialty
  3. Licensed in the State of Alaska as one of the following:
  • Dental Specialty – Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics
  • Dental Specialty – Pediatric Dentistry
  • Completion of an approved residency training program required for specialty dentistry positions. Must be Board certified or Board eligible.
  • Two (2) years of experience as a Dentist, Pediatric Dentist, or Orthodontist OR demonstrated proficiency as a Dentist, Pediatric Dentist, or Orthodontist at SCF.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. ACLS, NRP, ATLS, ALSO and PALS as required for specialty and certification relating to the scope of practice if required.
  • Employee Health Requirements: Compliance with our Employee Health Procedure is a condition of SCF employment. You are required to agree that you will comply with all job-related employee health screening and immunizations prior to your first day of employment. Jobs designated as a Health Care Personnel (HCP) position require documentation of immunizations prior to the first day of employment: MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella), Varicella (Chicken Pox), Hepatitis B, Influenza, T-dap (Tetanus - Diphtheria - Pertussis), and COVID-19 vaccination is required.
