Job summary

Novartis in Durham, NC is seeking a Sr. Automation Engineer (DeltaV) to lead and optimize DeltaV-based automation in a GMP manufacturing environment.

You will collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Validation, and IT to drive reliable, compliant system performance. You will design and implement DeltaV control strategies, support full system lifecycle, and mentor site staff on DeltaV and automation best practices.

Qualifications

8+ years of experience in GMP pharmaceutical or biopharma operations.
Hands-on DeltaV DCS programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
Experience with SCADA, HMI, PLC, BMS in regulated settings.
Knowledge of GMP, FDA, and 21 CFR Part 11 for automation systems.
Automation validation, qualification, and lifecycle management in GMP.

Responsibilities

Serve as a DeltaV SME for GMP manufacturing automation.
Design, configure, troubleshoot, and optimize DeltaV control strategies.
Support automation lifecycle: implementation, upgrades, maintenance, retirement.
Lead automation projects from concept to commissioning and handover.
Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Validation, IT.
Drive CI for reliability, efficiency, and product quality.
Investigate deviations, implement corrective actions, support CAPA.
Develop and maintain automation documentation and drawings.
Ensure compliance with GMP, FDA, and data integrity.
