Collins Aerospace, part of RTX, is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer for the SOA CAAS Platform Systems Engineering team in Cedar Rapids. You will lead the development, integration, and verification of avionics systems for military aircraft, working with diverse stakeholders including military customers.

The role emphasizes architecture definition, verification planning, and customer engagement, with opportunities to mentor peers and influence program direction.

Qualifications

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 3+ years experience.
• Ability to obtain/maintain DoD SECRET clearance within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Develop system architectures, requirements, interface definitions, and technical design artifacts for SOA CAAS programs.
• Plan and execute system verification activities including lab and aircraft integration and flight test support.
• Collaborate with engineers, product owners, software/hardware/test teams and customers to develop technically sound solutions.
• Participate in proposal activities, technical planning and engineering estimates for future SOA programs.
• Support technical reviews, customer briefings, design reviews, and engineering trade studies.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence and learning.
• Travel typically less than 25% annually to support integration, meetings, and flight test activities.
