Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced DCS/PLC hardware design professional in the United States to evaluate DCS installations, create I/O lists, and contribute to design reviews. The role involves hands-on engineering for control cabinets, loop drawings, and heat-load calculations, with engagement in site surveys and factory acceptance testing.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of DCS/PLC hardware, digital and analogue design, and experience with IT networking for DCS/PLC applications.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or Control disciplines.
• At least 8 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Experience with DCS and PLC hardware design preferred.
• Experience evaluating DCS installations and preparing I/O lists.
• Knowledge of digital and analogue design.
• Knowledge of engineering processes and power plant applications.
• Working knowledge of DCS and PLC hardware and I/O types.
• Working knowledge of DNP 3.0, Modbus, IEC 61850, TCP/IP, and Profibus connectivity.
• Basic knowledge of IT networking for DCS/PLC applications.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate Distributed Control Systems (DCS) for new and modernization installations and prepare I/O lists.
• Participate in site surveys, design review meetings, site readiness meetings, and factory acceptance testing.
• Develop I/O lists and I/O channel allocations.
• Participate in site installation and commissioning.
• Prepare and update engineering documentation, including installation work packages.
• Conceptualize control designs and present them to customers during customer design reviews.
• Perform basic and detailed engineering of DCS system control cabinets.
• Create loop drawings for field instrumentation.
• Calculate heat loads for DCS/PLC cabinets.
• Guide the design, development, and implementation of complex hardware solutions while adhering to manufacturing capabilities.
