Job summary

Envestnet in Berwyn, PA, is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to lead reliability, performance, and security of production databases across MySQL and PostgreSQL in a hybrid environment. You’ll resolve complex incidents, optimize high-transaction workloads, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

The role requires strong scripting (Bash), cloud experience (AWS EC2/RDS), and a degree in CS/IT with deep DB expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.
• Proven MySQL administration experience (8.0 or newer); primary focus to start.
• Proven PostgreSQL administration experience in a mixed MySQL/PostgreSQL estate.
• Strong understanding of high-availability and high-transaction database environments, including replication.
• Demonstrated ability to perform advanced performance tuning and deep analysis of queries, execution plans, blocking, and deadlocks.
• Working knowledge of cloud-hosted database deployments on AWS EC2 and RDS.
• Proficiency in Bash scripting for automation, and Linux administration/IP networking.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, with ability to mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Ensure reliability, performance, security, and operational readiness of production databases supporting Wealth platforms.
• Monitor database health, respond to incidents, tune performance, support releases and upgrades.
• Enforce secure and compliant operations and plan for capacity and scale.
• Develop automation to streamline administrative tasks, reporting, and support.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, development, and application support teams to deliver scalable database solutions.
• Lead complex incidents, perform deep analysis of queries and execution plans, and mentor engineers.
