Job summary

The Salvation Army is hiring a Day Camp Counselor – Senior in York, PA, to support day camp operations. The role runs from 6/22/26 to 8/14/26, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, reporting to the Day Camp Director/Corps Officer.

The hourly wage is $13.00, with a comprehensive benefits package for eligible employees. Responsibilities include supervising participants, modeling positive engagement, and assisting staff to maintain a safe, engaging learning environment throughout the day camp

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with 2 years of work related experience.
• Valid PA State Driver's License with a good driving record with 3 years experience; Must pass Salvation Army driving test.
• Salvation Army KeepSafe certificates.
• Clearances per PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check; PA Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise program participants and engage them in scheduled activities.
• Model positive participation and supervise groups during activities.
• Assist teachers and leaders in supervising and monitoring student behavior.
• Maintain sight and hearing of participants at all times and enforce restroom break policies.
• Provide a safe, educational, enriching and fun environment for all participants.
• Monitor behaviors to ensure adherence to program rules and safety.
