Job summary

Southwest Power Pool, Inc. seeks Day-Ahead Operators to execute market and reliability functions within the integrated marketplace. You will handle DAMKT, DARUC, and MDFC tasks, ensuring accurate inputs and timely outputs while collaborating with colleagues on the floor.

The role requires progressing through Operator levels with increasing discretion, mentoring responsibilities, and potential project work. A rotating 12-hour shift schedule is typical; on-site work in Little Rock, AR is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Sr. Day-Ahead Operator requires eight years+ as Operator I/II or equivalent.
• Day-Ahead Operator III requires three years+ as Operator I/II or equivalent.
• Day-Ahead Operator II requires one year as Operator I or equivalent.
• Day-Ahead Operator I requires NERC System Operator certification or ability to obtain within three months.

Responsibilities

• Manage Day-Ahead Market (DAMKT) functions for hedging and scheduling.
• Drive Day-Ahead Reliability Unit Commitment (DARUC) decisions.
• Provide Multi-day Forecast (MDFC) inputs up to four days ahead.
• Learn tariff rules and market procedures for desks and tools.
• Collaborate with staff, verify inputs, and run desk functions within parameters.
• Mentor less-tenured staff and support ad-hoc projects.
