Job summary

Google is seeking a Datacenter Engineer to define system architectures and lead engineering analysis for next-generation data centers. You will develop procedures, implement improvements, and validate cooling, structural, and performance requirements across critical infrastructure.

The role requires advanced engineering degrees and several years of experience in controls engineering, data center design, and EPMS/BMS operations, with hybrid work based in Midlothian, TX.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a Datacenter Engineering-related occupation.
  • Alternatively, will accept a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, and 3 years of experience in the job offered or in a Datacenter Engineering-related occupation.
  • Position requires 3 years of experience in the following: Implementation of controls engineering, including control system programming; Building Management System (BMS) or Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) operation; Process improvement for critical infrastructure projects; Data center architecture and system design; and Application of engineering tools and analytical methods to verify system design requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Define system-level architecture and product strategy for next-generation data centers.
  • Conduct engineering analysis and research innovative designs for data center equipment and facilities.
  • Develop and document standard operating and maintenance procedures for critical systems.
  • Implement process improvements across critical infrastructure projects to boost operational efficiency.
  • Validate that all designs and installations meet specified cooling, structural, and performance requirements. Apply controls engineering principles to design and implement automated mission-critical systems.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $144,000 - $209,000 + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Position reports to the Google Midlothian, TX office & may allow for a hybrid schedule as per Google policy.
