Job summary

SpaceX is looking for an experienced Database Reliability Engineer with expert knowledge of Oracle and PostgreSQL to own the health, uptime, and performance of our databases.

In a fast-paced IT engineering team, you will develop automation with Python or Bash, design DR and backup solutions, optimize abusive queries, and collaborate with software developers. You will also participate in on-call rotations and help raise the reliability bar across SpaceX’s data platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or 5+ years in database reliability/DevOps.
• 5+ years optimizing SQL queries and data replication.
• 5+ years developing monitoring tools and tuning databases.

Responsibilities

• Own health, uptime and performance of Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
• Partner with internal customers to understand challenges and plan improvements.
• Develop automation of routine tasks using Python or Bash.
• Engineer, deploy, maintain and monitor database systems.
• Design and test disaster recovery and backup solutions.
• Identify and optimize abusive queries to improve efficiency.
• Collaborate with developers and document actions and configurations.
• Participate in on‑call rotation and support cross‑team initiatives.
