Job summary

CCC Intelligent Solutions Inc. in the Chicago area is seeking a Lead Database Platform Engineer to guide strategy, architecture, reliability, and modernization of our enterprise database ecosystem.

You will lead a team of engineers across SQL Server and cloud-native databases, partnering with Engineering, SRE, DevOps, and Architecture to ensure secure, scalable, and efficient data platforms. The role requires strong leadership, hands-on expertise, and a vision for modernizing our data

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in CS, IS, Engineering, or similar
• 8+ years in enterprise-scale DB environments
• Proven experience leading technical teams and mentoring engineers
• Ability to influence technical direction and drive cross-functional initiatives
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Experience leading infrastructure, cloud, or database modernization
• Experience with upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management
• Experience with audit, security controls including SOC requirements
• Strong disaster recovery planning and high-availability knowledge

Responsibilities

• Lead database platform strategy and roadmap for CCC
• Design, implement, and optimize enterprise-scale SQL Server and cloud-native databases
• Mentor and guide a team of database engineers and offshore resources
• Collaborate with Product Dev, Architecture, SRE and DevOps to ensure highly available solutions
• Drive automation for deployment, monitoring, tuning, provisioning, and support
• Promote AI and automation to boost productivity and reduce manual tasks
• Lead platform initiatives including upgrades, migrations, cloud transformations
• Establish best practices for security, resiliency, and compliance
• Collaborate with vendors to evaluate solutions and support decisions
• Contribute to incident management, RCA, and disaster recovery planning
• Develop and maintain architecture docs and support procedures
• Identify opportunities to reduce complexity and improve reliability
