Job summary

Allocore, a mission-driven technology company in Mechanicsburg, is seeking a Senior Database Engineer to design, optimize, and support enterprise databases across AWS services, ensuring reliability and security for high-volume workloads. You will collaborate with application, cloud, and security teams to drive modernization initiatives and automation.

Qualifications

U.S. citizenship required with ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.
Local to Mechanicsburg HQ; in-office 3 days a week preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, business, accounting, finance, or equivalent experience.
Extensive experience managing databases including Aurora PostgreSQL, Oracle, DocumentDB, MSSQL, and Redshift.
Expertise in performance troubleshooting, query optimization, and performance enhancement.
Strong knowledge of cloud platforms, specifically AWS.
AWS Solution Architect (Associate/Professional) and/or AWS Certified Data Engineer certifications required.
Familiarity with Datadog, Sentry, and CloudWatch monitoring tools.
Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing technical teams.
Strong project management skills with cross-functional collaboration.
Exceptional problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
Minimum 5 years of experience in database and data engineering.
Hands-on experience managing large-scale database environments and data pipelines.
Software development experience with GitHub or similar SCM and peer review processes.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, administer, and support database platforms including Aurora PostgreSQL, DocumentDB, Redshift, Databricks, ElastiCache, Oracle, and MSSQL.
Analyze and tune complex SQL queries, stored procedures, workloads, and access patterns.
Collaborate with Cloud, DevOps, and Security teams to ensure security, availability, and compliance.
Review migration plans; assist with migrations across database platforms.
Monitor performance; optimize for cost and scalability using AWS services.
Support data pipelines, ETL, and analytics workloads; troubleshoot data quality issues.
Develop automation for database administration, monitoring, and release validation.
Lead and mentor teams; contribute to capacity planning and disaster recovery.
