Job summary

Atos seeks an experienced Database Administrator to support PostgreSQL, YugabyteDB, SQL Server, and cloud-native databases (Aurora, Google Cloud Spanner). You will handle installation, upgrades, backup/recovery, replication, and high availability in a 24x7 production environment.

You’ll automate operations with Python, Ansible, Terraform, GitHub, and CI/CD, and work with AWS/GCP database services and observability tools like Grafana.

Qualifications

• Hands-on DBA experience with PostgreSQL, YugabyteDB, SQL Server, and cloud-native DBs such as AWS Aurora PostgreSQL/MySQL, Google Cloud SQL, and Spanner.
• Proficient in installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, monitoring, backup/recovery, replication, and high availability.
• Strong troubleshooting for performance, query optimization, workload management, capacity planning, latency, availability, and reliability.
• Experience with automation and DevOps tools (Python, shell scripting, Ansible, Terraform, GitHub, CI/CD).
• Hands-on experience with AWS and/or GCP database services, IaC, monitoring/observability (Grafana).
• Knowledge of data ingestion, ETL/ELT, data pipelines, data integration, and high-volume workloads.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, upgrade, patch, monitor, troubleshoot, back up and recover databases.
• Manage replication, high availability, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Triage and resolve complex production issues related to performance and reliability.
• Automate operational tasks using Python, shell scripting, Ansible, Terraform, and CI/CD tooling.
• Work with AWS/GCP database services and IaC; monitor with Grafana and related tools.
• Support data engineering activities including ingestion pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.
• Apply ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change) and participate in DR planning.
• Provide 24x7 production support with ownership, communication, and teamwork.
• Learn quickly, work independently, and be willing to rotate weekends and off-hours.

Job description

• 8+ years of hands-on DBA experience supporting PostgreSQL, YugabyteDB, SQL Server, and cloud-native databases such as Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, Amazon Aurora MySQL, Google Cloud SQL, and Google Cloud Spanner.
• Strong experience with database administration activities, including installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, monitoring, troubleshooting, backup and recovery, replication, and high availability.
• Deep technical knowledge of PostgreSQL, SQL Server, YugabyteDB, and cloud-native database platforms.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex production issues related to performance, query optimization, workload management, capacity planning, latency, availability, and reliability.
• Experience with automation and DevOps tools such as Python, Unix shell scripting, Ansible, Terraform, GitHub, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and/or GCP database services, Infrastructure as Code, monitoring, and observability tools such as Grafana and DMC.
• Understanding of data engineering concepts, including data ingestion, ETL/ELT, data pipelines, data integration, and support for high-volume data workloads.
• Knowledge of ITIL processes, including Incident, Problem, and Change Management, along with Disaster Recovery and root cause analysis.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, ownership, and collaboration skills in a 24x7 production support environment.
• Solid understanding of database setup, configuration, administration, and replication.
• Ability to learn quickly, work independently, and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
• Willingness to provide rotational weekend and off-hours support as needed.
