Job summary

Alpaca is seeking an Analytics Engineer to own the transformation layer of our data platform. You’ll build scalable data models with dbt and SQL on a GCP-based open-source stack, serving finance, operations, and executive stakeholders with reliable insights.

Join a 100% remote, globally distributed team of engineers and data scientists. You’ll collaborate with Data Engineers and Business Users, influence data quality, and shape our analytics products and BI outputs.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of analytics engineering or data engineering with a strong focus on the transformation in ELT.
• Proven track record of owning data products end-to-end, ensuring data quality, scalability, and robust data models.
• Comfortable working with ambiguity and collaborating with stakeholders to define requirements; able to take ownership with minimal oversight.
• Experience proactively identifying and implementing improvements to data warehouse performance and ETL efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data models using dbt and SQL to support diverse business needs, from monthly financial reporting to near-real-time operational metrics.
• Set technical standards for data modeling, development, testing, and monitoring to ensure data quality, integrity (up to cent-level precision), and discoverability.
• Enable stakeholders by collaborating with finance, operations, customer success, and marketing to understand requirements and deliver reliable data products.
• Create repeatable patterns for integrating data models with BI tools and reverse ETL processes, enabling consistent metric reporting across the business.
• Ensure quality through development standards, change management, source control, code reviews, and data monitoring as products and data evolve.
