Job summary

Alpaca, backed by Social Leverage LLC, is seeking a Head of Data to lead a data department of ~15 members. This role involves owning the data strategy and managing teams focused on Platform Engineering, Analytics Engineering, and Data Science.

You will collaborate across multiple functions, manage infrastructure costs, and drive the evolution of self-service analytics capabilities. Ideal candidates have 8+ years in data fields, with strong Python, SQL, and management experience.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in data engineering or analytics, including 3+ years managing data teams.
• Experience with modern data stack: dbt, Trino/Presto, Apache Iceberg.
• Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT patterns at scale.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop three sub-teams in the data department.
• Own the Data Lakehouse architecture and tools.
• Drive partner invoicing accuracy and reporting.
• Deliver embedded analytics and support product launches.
• Accelerate self-service analytics capabilities.
• Guide AI/ML enablement projects.
• Collaborate with multiple teams on data needs.
