Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Senior Security Engineer focused on Data Security to design, build, and lead the company’s data protection program. You will craft scalable security controls, guide cross-functional partners, and shape long-term strategy for protecting data.

This remote-friendly role accepts candidates across the US East/West time zones, with on-site collaboration sessions and periodic in-person reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics, or its equivalent, plus 5 years of security experience.
• Extensive experience across enterprise security with a deep focus on Data Security and IAM.
• Experience owning or leading Data Security, DLP, or DSPM initiatives.
• Strong software engineering background to design production-grade systems (APIs, services, or internal apps).
• Experience launching security capabilities in complex environments from 0 to 1.
• Deep understanding of least-privilege concepts and practical application at scale.
• Excellent communication to influence senior technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive meaningful change.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and execution of the data security program from foundational to scalable systems.
• Architect and build APIs, services, and internal tools for data protection and governance.
• Partner with Engineering, Analytics, Product, Legal, Risk, HR, and others to secure sensitive data.
• Drive adoption of least-privilege access models and modern data protection patterns.
• Mentor engineers and security practitioners to uphold technical standards and ownership.
• Continuously improve systems using real-world signals and evolving threats.
