Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Data Security Analyst — Master to lead design, implementation, and operation of enterprise security controls. The role requires deep hands-on expertise with Palo Alto Networks (Panorama, Cortex, Strata) and strong Cisco security capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 12+ years or commensurate experience in cybersecurity.
• 10+ years in cybersecurity, network security, security engineering, or security operations with hands-on firewall admin and incident response.
• Deep expertise with Palo Alto Networks next-gen firewalls in complex enterprise environments.
• Experience with Panorama, including centralized policy administration, HA workflows, logging, upgrades, and governance.
• Strong knowledge of Palo Alto Strata, NGFW, App-ID, User-ID, Content-ID, and security profiles.
• Experience with Cortex for detection, analytics, automation, and SOAR/EDR.
• Strong Cisco networking background and related security tech (Secure Firewall, ISE, etc.).
• Familiarity with NIST/ISO/PCI/HIPAA/SOX controls and risk-based security.

Responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, and optimize Palo Alto firewalls across data centers, campuses, and cloud.
• Lead centralized firewall management using Palo Alto Panorama.
• Design and tune security policies with least privilege and threat prevention.
• Lead Cortex-based security analytics and SOAR capabilities.
• Coordinate with Cisco teams to integrate secure routing, VPN, and segmentation.
• Review and document firewall changes per change-management processes.
• Perform regular rulebase reviews, risk assessments, and policy cleanup.
• Maintain network diagrams, runbooks, and escalation procedures.
• Collaborate with SOC, IR, Cloud, Governance, and Audit teams on remediation.
