Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Data Security Analyst — Master to lead enterprise security controls across data, networks, and cloud environments. You will design, implement, and operate security measures with Palo Alto portfolios, Cortex, and Cisco integrations to protect critical assets.

The role requires hands-on firewall administration, incident response experience, and collaboration with security teams. It offers a remote US-based schedule with a strong emphasis on architecture, automation, and risk

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 12+ years in cybersecurity, network security, security engineering, or security operations.
• Extensive hands-on firewall administration and incident-response experience with Palo Alto NGFWs.
• Deep expertise administering Palo Alto NGFWs in complex enterprise environments.
• Advanced experience with Panorama for centralized policy administration and HA workflows.
• Strong practical knowledge of Strata security capabilities including NGFW architecture, App-ID, User-ID, Content-ID, and decryption.
• Experience with Cortex for detection, investigation, automation, and SOAR integrations.
• Strong Cisco networking background with VPNs, routing, switching, segmentation, and high-availability concepts.
• Understanding of security frameworks (NIST, ISO, CIS, PCI DSS, HIPAA, SOX) and risk management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for explaining risks to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, and optimize Palo Alto firewalls across data centers, campuses, and cloud environments.
• Lead centralized firewall management using Panorama and enforce configuration standards.
• Design and maintain security policies with least privilege and tiered access.
• Deploy Cortex for security analytics, EDR/XDR, and incident response.
• Coordinate containment, eradication, and post-incident reviews with SOC and IR teams.
• Perform regular firewall rulebase reviews, risk assessments, and policy cleanups.
• Maintain network security diagrams, runbooks, and architecture decisions.
• Collaborate with Cisco teams to integrate secure routing, VPN, and network access controls.
• Mentor analysts and engineers, and drive engineering standards.
