Job summary

Maximus seeks a Senior Data Scientist to support the USSOCOM POTFF program, identifying innovative data solutions across the SOF enterprise to enhance the wellbeing of SOF warriors and their families. You will consult with supported units and POTFF staff to identify opportunities and capture POTFF data.

Responsibilities include advanced analytics, feature selection, and ML model development, with SME guidance to peers.

Qualifications

• BS, MS (preferred), or PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science or a related field.
• 7+ years of data analysis/science experience with data-driven decision making.
• Strong machine learning knowledge and algorithms such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, and Decision Trees.
• Experience with data science toolkits and multiple ones (as applicable).
• Experience with data visualization tools and advanced applied statistics topics.
• Proficient in SQL and relational databases; capable of handling large datasets and distributed/cloud tools.

Responsibilities

• Interpret results using a range of techniques from data aggregation to advanced mining and pattern recognition.
• Select features and refine classifiers using cutting-edge ML techniques for performance.
• Act as SME in data and analytics; advise peer analysts and stakeholders.
• Identify suitable decision technology methods: optimization, simulation, regression, trees, neural nets, etc.
• Apply statistical methods to forecast trends and quantify variability in predictions.
• Expand MAXIMUS data collection for robust analytics systems.
• Develop automated anomaly detection and monitor model performance for improvement.
• Lead project management and coordinate team communications and strategy.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies to grow team expertise.
• Drive execution in additional Maximus strategic areas.
