Maximus is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to support the USSOCOM POTFF program, identifying innovative data-driven solutions to enhance SOF well-being. The role requires expertise in statistics, ML, and data analytics to guide supported units and staff in capturing POTFF data.

The position emphasizes independent work, collaboration with stakeholders, and staying current with emerging analytics technologies to improve program outcomes.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Machine Learning or related field.
• 7+ years of data analysis/science with emphasis on data-driven decisions.
• Strong knowledge of ML algorithms (k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Trees).
• Experience with data science toolkits and data visualization tools.
• Advanced applied statistics skills (distributions, testing, regression).
• Strong SQL and relational database skills.
• Experience with large data sets and distributed/cloud tools a plus.
• Independent worker with team collaboration capability.
• Excellent written and oral communication; leadership in prioritizing projects.
• Experience with government-sponsored health care programs desirable.

Responsibilities

• Interpret results using a range of techniques from data aggregation to advanced mining.
• Develop classifiers using cutting-edge ML methods for performance gains.
• Serve as SME in data/analytics for analysts and stakeholders.
• Identify suitable decision-technology tools (optimization, simulation, etc.).
• Use statistics to forecast trends and account for variability.
• Expand MAXIMUS data collection for robust analytical systems.
• Develop automated anomaly detection and monitor model performance.
• Lead project management and cross-team communication.
• Stay current with technologies relevant to MAXIMUS initiatives.
• Drive execution of additional MAXIMUS strategic areas.
