Job summary

Google is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join the Search team, focusing on foundational data insights for Search, AI Overviews, and Gemini in Search. You will work on Core Web Quality, News and Freshness, and AI Context Engineering (CRAFT) in close collaboration with engineers and product managers.

You will design and evaluate approaches to improve how users access information through Search and AI experiences, building robust experiments and scalable evaluation systems for iterative

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, OR, Engineering, or related).
• 5 years of analytics experience with coding (Python, R, SQL) or 3 years with a PhD.
• If applicable, PhD may substitute for years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Engineers and PMs to identify quality and metric headrooms.
• Perform dataset analyses using statistical and AI methods; share actionable recommendations.
• Build evaluations and measurement systems to support hillclimbing and iterative improvements with Engineering.
• Function as an integrated partner to drive system changes and support launches.
