Block, Inc. is seeking a Senior Data Scientist for the First Line Risk Data Science team to build and scale control performance monitoring across a portfolio of financial products.

You will partner with risk, compliance, product, and engineering to embed automated measurement and governance into product development. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field with 7+ years or higher.
• Proven track record delivering analytical solutions end-to-end.
• Experience translating objectives into measurable monitoring frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain actionable control performance metrics and key risk indicators tied to control objectives and customer outcomes.
• Investigate how controls work in practice using source data to measure coverage, enforcement, exceptions, and outcomes.
• Contribute scalable monitoring metrics and modules into our monitoring application, linking metrics to risks and controls.
• Turn high-value analyses into reusable analytical modules and automated monitoring workflows.
• Apply statistical judgment to define populations, cohorts, baselines, and thresholds.
• Build repeatable solutions for product governance, including pre-launch risk measurement plans and rollout guardrails.
• Partner with internal users to understand decisions and workflows, shape a monitoring roadmap.
• Lead ambiguous initiatives from problem definition through delivery with stakeholder alignment.
• Communicate findings and limitations clearly to technical partners and senior leaders.
