Job summary

Syneos Health is seeking a Senior Programmer-Senior Data Scientist for Real‑World Data (SAS/R). The role emphasizes advanced programming, cohort studies, and epidemiological methods using SAS and R against claims and EHR data to support clinical solutions and real-world evidence initiatives.

Ideal candidates hold an undergraduate science or statistics degree and have extensive SAS/R experience, with strong English communication skills and experience in a clinical trial environment.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in a scientific or statistical discipline is required or an equivalent combination of education and programming experience.
• Extensive programming experience in SAS or other required software, preferably in a clinical trial environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Programming using SAS or R to develop analysis datasets, listings and figures.
• Work with commercial claims and EHR databases (Optum, MarketScan, IQVIA PharMetrics, HealthVerity) for analyses.
• Conduct longitudinal cohort studies and derive baseline and outcome variables.
• Apply epidemiological study designs and methodologies in analyses.
• Use statistical methods including regression and survival analyses.
• Educational background in biostatistics or epidemiology; pharmaceutical industry experience preferred.
