Job summary

AbbVie in Illinois is seeking a Data Scientist within the Operations Quality Data Analytics group. You will build predictive and prescriptive models using statistical and machine-learning methods, and ensure end-to-end delivery of data science applications and studies.

You'll work with cross-functional teams, mentor junior members, and help establish KPIs and reports while adhering to GMP, regulatory guidelines, and AbbVie quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Advanced Analytics, Statistics, Engineering, Operational Research, Computer Science, or Econometrics AND/OR applied science field such as Chemistry, Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering, or Biology. Master’s degree preferred.
• 6+ years’ business experience in business analytics, manufacturing data analytics, data mining, or statistical modeling in a cGMP related industry. Manufacturing life science experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of FDA Quality Systems, pharmaceutical products, and Medical Device Reporting regulations (21 CFR 803, 820 and 211) is preferred.
• Software experience – Proficiency with at least one statistical programming package (e.g., R, SAS, JMP, Minitab); familiarity with Python, SQL, BI tools (PowerBI, Tableau); experience with data visualization/pipelining tools.
• Proficiency in SQL, cloud architecture, database administration, and relational database management with the capability to create automated ETL processes and data models.
• Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt/Blackbelt certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate cross-functionally with data scientists, senior functional leaders, and business partners.
• Consult with users in requirements analysis and recommend future-impact solutions.
• Develop advanced data analytical models from supervised/unsupervised learning, statistics, deep learning, predictive modeling, and Gen AI.
• Mentor and coach team members and collaborate with statistical/data science teams.
• Ensure data presented to stakeholders maintains study integrity and is fit for purpose.
• Support functional innovation and process improvement initiatives.
• Ensure adherence to GMPs, SOPs, and applicable regulations; stay current with local guidelines.
• Coach and mentoring junior team members.
• Identify business needs and support creation of standard KPIs, reports, and analyses.
