Job summary

DrFirst is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to lead AI, ML, and NLP initiatives in healthcare, partnering with clinicians and engineers to deliver production-ready solutions. You will own end-to-end data pipelines, evaluate LLM-powered applications, and mentor peers while ensuring HIPAA compliance and high quality, scalable systems across our Postgres/Redshift stack.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in data science, machine learning, and NLP, with a track record of delivering models into production.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Pipeline development and orchestration with dbt, Airflow, and AWS data services (Glue, DMS, Lambda, S3).
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including production-quality Python, Git workflows, containerization (Docker), and CI/CD.
• Experience deploying models on AWS, including SageMaker and MLflow.
• Experience building and evaluating LLM-powered applications, including prompt design and RAG pipelines.
• Proven ability to scope ambiguous problems and lead projects end to end.
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects and coach other data scientists.

Responsibilities

• Own AI, ML, and NLP initiatives end to end from problem framing through model deployment and monitoring.
• Apply LLMs to automate complex, high-volume workflows with scalable latency/throughput.
• Define eval metrics and pipelines for LLM/ML systems; monitor quality and regressions.
• Build data foundations and production-grade pipelines from PostgreSQL and Redshift sources.
• Collaborate with clinicians, pharmacists, and domain experts to validate model behavior in real workflows.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, PHI handling, bias monitoring, and performance drift checks.
• Lead projects, set direction, establish best practices, and influence technical strategy.
• Mentor data scientists through pairing, reviews, and coaching; contribute to hiring.
• Communicate analytical findings to executives via reports and visualizations.
