Roblox is seeking a Data Scientist for the Discovery Experiences team to own ranking initiatives powering Home, Search, Matchmaking, and Notifications. Build ML models and economic/social frameworks to influence experiences and user engagement, reporting to the Senior Director of Data Science.

Requires advanced degree and 4+ years in data science or ML on large-scale platforms; expertise in Python, SQL, and modern data tools; ability to translate complex problems for executives.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in a quantitative field (Statistics, CS, Physics, Applied Math, or Economics).
• 4+ years of experience (or 2+ with a PhD) in Data Science, Economics, or ML Engineering, in large-scale recommendation systems or UGC platforms.
• Expert in modern data stack (Python, R, SQL, Hive, Spark, Airflow) with deep learning knowledge.
• Ability to design sophisticated experiments for two-sided marketplaces and social network effects.
• Ability to distill high-dimensional problems into succinct, actionable narratives for non-technical executives.

Responsabilités

• Lead the development of ML solutions and ranking frameworks for discovery canvases.
• Serve as primary scientific advisor to Product and Engineering leaders using data to drive innovations.
• Apply causal inference and experimentation to measure platform initiatives' effectiveness.
• Develop frameworks to scale hypothesis generation and match experimentation velocity with growth.
• Apply first-principles reasoning to balance visibility of top-tier experiences with niche UGC content.
