Job summary

MITRE seeks a Senior Data Scientist for the Acquisition Affordability and Business Analytics Department. You will frame analytic problems, source data, apply ML and visualization tools, and report findings to sponsors to support mission-critical decisions.

The role covers lifecycle analytics, cost estimation, tradeoffs, and investment analyses across government programs, with a requirement to work on-site four days a week and obtain Top Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree or 3 years with a Master's in relevant quantitative fields.
• Proficient in Python or R for data science and modeling.
• Proficient with code environment management and versioning (Git, IDEs).
• Ability to retrieve and work with data from remote sources (databases, APIs, cloud).
• Proficient in data processing, EDA, with structured and unstructured data.
• Proficient in ML and NLP including model tuning, time-series analysis, and related packages.

Responsibilities

• Assist in identifying information sources and gathering data for decisions with sponsor impact.
• Apply analysis skills: EDA, time series, linear regression, text analysis, ML.
• Draw conclusions and clearly articulate key findings in writing and presentations.
• Develop data visualization products to improve presentation of complex data.
• Translate unstructured data into actionable business insights.
• Support investment, economic, and decision analyses including cost/benefit studies.
• Support strategic finance analyses like budgeting, planning, affordability analysis.
• Assess government and industry cost estimates and economic analyses.
• Collaborate with sponsors and senior staff to elevate issues and risks.
