Job summary

Steampunk seeks a Senior Data Scientist to lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced analytical models and ML solutions that drive mission and business impact. You will mentor junior team members and partner with engineering, product, and mission stakeholders to translate insights into actionable outcomes.

You will guide modeling strategy, lead experimentation cycles, and ensure reproducibility and responsible AI practices while staying current with cloud-native analytics tools

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
• 8+ years of experience in data science/related field with advanced analytics.
• Proven ability to lead data science workstreams and mentor junior practitioners.
• Experience designing, building, and deploying ML/analytics solutions.
• Strong Python and data science libraries proficiency; hands-on DL/ML frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end development of predictive and analytical models.
• Architect and implement advanced ML techniques for mission needs.
• Conduct diagnostics, error analysis, and explainability studies.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers and MLOps teams to operationalize models.
• Translate model outputs into clear insights for executives and stakeholders.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to define requirements and data needs.
• Lead experimentation cycles and evaluate new modeling approaches.
• Ensure reproducible work with proper documentation and version control.
• Mentor associate and mid-level Data Scientists.
• Stay current on ML techniques and cloud-native analytics tools.
