Job summary

ExtraHop is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to advance machine learning and AI capabilities powering our NDR products. You will analyze large-scale network telemetry, build and evaluate models to detect threats, and translate research into reliable product features.

You will work with data scientists, threat researchers, and engineers to tackle ambiguous, high-impact problems, implement end-to-end solutions, and mentor teammates while delivering production-ready code and defensible results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, or another quantitative discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of professional experience in data science, including developing and evaluating machine learning models.
• Strong foundation in statistics, experimental design, machine learning, and model evaluation.
• Experience with incomplete/imbalanced data; detailed error analysis and false positives/negatives.

Responsibilities

• Analyze large-scale network telemetry to identify patterns and signals of malicious activity.
• Design, develop, and refine ML/AI methods for ExtraHop’s products.
• Develop evaluation methods for cybersecurity data, including imbalanced datasets and changing attacker behavior.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, model development, and error analysis.
• Research emerging ML/AI techniques and cybersecurity developments relevant to products.
• Establish metrics and monitoring for model performance over time.
• Communicate findings clearly to technical stakeholders and product leaders.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other data scientists through reviews and design discussions.
• Document methodologies, experiments, and results.
• Write clean, production-quality code.
