Job summary

DELFI Diagnostics, Inc. in Palo Alto, CA, seeks a Senior Data Scientist to develop statistical analysis methods for early cancer detection assays.

You will work with lab scientists, clinicians, engineers, and data scientists across assay development, validation, and regulatory readiness. The ideal candidate holds a Master’s in a quantitative field (PhD preferred), 5+ years in scientific data analysis, strong Python skills, and experience in regulated environments.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in probability theory and statistics; hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, estimation.
• Five+ years of practical data analysis experience; Python experience (numpy, pandas).
• Experience in regulated diagnostics environment (IVD/LDT) with rigorous studies and documentation.
• Ability to connect assay chemistry to data behavior and troubleshoot performance.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute analyses for assay development, validation, and QC in regulated diagnostics.
• Collaborate with assay development, lab operations, and software teams to plan experiments and document results.
• Contribute statistical methods to control strategy for reagents, instruments, and QC.
• Provide data science support for production and run monitoring; troubleshoot performance issues.
• Produce high-quality Python code following team standards.
• Support regulatory submissions with rigorously documented analyses.
