Job summary

DELFI Diagnostics, Inc. in Palo Alto is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to collaborate with lab scientists, clinicians, engineers, and other data scientists to develop statistical methods for early cancer detection assays.

The role spans assay development, analytical validation, QC, and regulatory submission toward clinical use. The ideal candidate has strong probability/statistics foundations, regulated diagnostics experience, and the ability to translate complex analyses into clear regulatory

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a quantitative field; PhD preferred.
• 5+ years of scientific or mathematical data analysis experience.
• 3+ years of Python experience (NumPy, Pandas).
• Experience in regulated diagnostics environments (IVD/LDT).
• Ability to connect assay chemistry to data behavior and troubleshoot performance.

Responsibilities

• Design analyses for assay development, analytical validation, and QC strategies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design experiments and create regulatory-ready documentation.
• Contribute to control strategy development, including qualification and monitoring frameworks.
• Provide operational data science support for production and run monitoring; investigate issues and trend QC metrics.
• Produce high-quality Python code following established software practices.
• Support regulatory submissions with rigorous, well-documented analyses.
