Job summary

Kalman & Company is seeking a highly skilled data scientist to work with Department of Warfare clients. You will collect, analyze, and communicate data to support decision-making on critical programs, collaborating with engineers, logisticians, and financial managers to deliver actionable insights.

Qualifications include a Secret clearance, DoW systems knowledge, and 10+ years in data science plus 5+ years in relevant DoW solutions.

Qualifications

• Active Secret Security Clearance.
• Strong understanding of DoW systems and processes.
• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, physical science, engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of experience as a data scientist and 5+ years of experience supporting solutions implemented in DoW.
• Excellent data gathering and analytical skills.
• Ability to lead detail-oriented tasks and multi-task under minimal supervision.
• Experience in statistical modeling.
• Experience with Power BI, Power Query, Power Automate, Power Apps, MS Excel, Python, and SQL.
• Experience using Python or R packages and libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, pandas, plotly, shiny, etc.) to develop predictive analyses and machine learning models.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop solutions in a highly collaborative and agile environment.
• Demonstrated history of driving research and development initiatives in machine learning and AI, exploring cutting-edge technologies to keep Kalman at the forefront of data science advancements.
• Develop solutions to enable metadata/rules engine-driven data analytics using open source and cloud components.
• Lead efforts in collecting, normalizing, and analyzing complex data.
• Work with stakeholders to understand needs and apply to reports and dashboards.
• Identify opportunities to streamline reporting and automate processes.
• Develop and manage business intelligence solutions.
• Build data visualizations, dashboards, and reports from diverse data sources.
• Document data profiling, quality assurance results, and data dictionaries.
• Use data to create predictive models and trend analyses.
• Collaborate to collect and structure data across sources.
• Interpret data and produce ongoing client reports.
• Communicate results to diverse organizations and stakeholders.
• Provide thought leadership and innovative customer-focused solutions.
• Work autonomously and as part of a team to meet goals.
• Lead the preparation of briefing materials presenting analysis results.
