Job summary

Elsevier is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to design, develop, and deploy AI solutions that accelerate scientific discovery and knowledge enrichment. You will work across retrieval, knowledge graphs, and generative AI to solve high-impact research problems.

You will collaborate with engineering, product, editorial, and domain experts to deliver scalable systems, evaluate model performance, and ensure trustworthy, production-ready AI capabilities for researchers, clinicians, and institutions

Qualifications

Significant hands-on experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, NLP, Information Retrieval, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and deploy advanced ML, NLP, retrieval, and generative AI solutions for scientific discovery.
Build and optimize LLM-powered applications, including QA, literature summarization, semantic search, research insight generation, and evidence-grounded AI experiments.
Develop retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems connecting AI models with trusted scientific and scholarly content.
Create intelligent capabilities for search, ranking, recommendation, entity extraction, classification, enrichment, and decision support.
Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Research, Editorial, UX, and domain experts to solve complex scientific and business challenges.
