Job summary

BetterUp, Inc. seeks a Senior Data Scientist to shape how data informs product and business decisions across enterprise customers. You will design data models, run experiments, and build AI tools that empower teams to act on insights. This is a builder role in an AI-forward environment with experimentation encouraged.

You’ll mentor analysts, partner with engineering, and apply causal inference to drive measurable outcomes in engagement, retention, and customer health.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in data science or analytics, ideally in B2B SaaS or enterprise products.
• Strong SQL and Python, with modern data tooling such as dbt and cloud data warehouses.
• Hands-on data modeling and defining metrics used by other teams.
• Solid experimentation and causal inference skills, including power analysis.
• Experience building and deploying predictive models and evaluating ML/LLM systems.
• Fluency with AI tools and agentic coding workflows to scale AI-native work.
• Ability to explain complex results to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Owner’s mindset and comfort with ambiguity in 0-to-1 work.

Responsibilities

• Connect data across product, partner, and business systems and build metrics for enterprise value.
• Design and maintain data models and governed metric definitions across analyses and AI tools.
• Partner with engineering to ensure data supports reliable measurement.
• Design and analyze experiments to measure impact of product and business changes.
• Build predictive models for engagement, retention, and customer health and deploy them.
• Build systems to evaluate AI models and tools with automated metrics and human review.
• Run deep dives into metric movements and translate findings into recommendations.
• Build with AI as part of daily work, including agents and internal tools.
• Take on cross-functional projects across product, sales, marketing, and finance.
• Mentor other analysts and help shape team practices.
