Job summary

PEMCO is seeking a Senior Data Scientist - Actuarial to conduct complex actuarial and predictive analyses that support product development, rating, reserving, and process improvements. You will build large-scale models, create pricing tools, and partner with the Product Team to deliver actionable insights.

The role requires a strong background in actuarial science, 6+ years of experience, and fluency with Python/R/SAS/SQL, plus advanced MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• S. degree or equivalent in Actuarial Science/Math/Statistics or related field is required.
• Graduate or other professional degree or equivalent work experience is preferred.
• 6+ years of actuarial and statistical predictive modeling experience required.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required.
• Proficiency in Python, R, SAS and/or SQL.
• Strong quantitative modeling skills and ability to write complex SQL queries.
• Analytical, data-driven, organized and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform complex actuarial and product development analytics.
• Develop predictive models and multivariate analyses at scale.
• Create queries and tools for rates, rating plans, pricing and financial analysis.
• Collaborate with Product Team and other units to deliver business solutions.
• Document system workflows and business processes.
• Pioneer best practices for tooling and processes to improve efficiency.
• Mentor junior staff and share best practices.
• Uphold PEMCO policies, values and ethics.
