Job summary

Ulta Beauty in Illinois seeks a Senior Manager, Data Science to lead the Data Science and ML capability pillar within Enterprise AI, translating business strategy into execution across teams.

You will coach data scientists, contribute to solution design, enforce best practices, and drive measurable outcomes through scalable, production‑ready models. This role partners with Product, Operations, and Engineering to advance responsible AI across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a highly quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of progressive technology experience in Data Science and Machine Learning, including significant people‑leadership responsibility in complex environments.
• Proficiency in Python and scientific related frameworks (e.g., Scikit‑Learn, NumPy, SciPy etc.)
• Hands‑on experience working in Databricks and enterprise cloud platforms, preferably GCP

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a high‑performing team of Data Scientists setting technical expectations, providing feedback, and creating development plans to strengthen capabilities.
• Serve as a hands‑on Data Science and Machine Learning expert contributing directly to solution design, code reviews, model troubleshooting, and complex technical problem‑solving.
• Establish and enforce Data Science best practices for coding, version control, peer reviews, experimentation, model validation, documentation, and responsible AI.
• Elevate modeling rigor by challenging technical approaches and coaching teams on statistical inference, experimentation, causal reasoning, and model evaluation.
• Guide end‑to‑end Data Science development from problem framing, data preparation, feature engineering, and algorithm selection to evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.
• Own the delivery and technical quality across concurrent Data Science initiatives removing blockers, building models, and driving adoption for measurable outcomes.
