Job summary

Washington State Department of Corrections is seeking a Data Science & Informatics Specialist 3 to advance data-driven decision making across the BIOS unit within RDA. The role leads high-impact data science projects, designs scalable data solutions, and ensures alignment with state information security standards.

Responsibilities include building automated data pipelines, governance frameworks, and mentoring staff while partnering with internal teams and external partners to deliver actionable

Qualifications

• Master's degree in informatics, data science, mathematics, computer science, statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, or related technical field.
• One year of professional experience performing data science or informatics work.
• Or Bachelor's degree in informatics, data science, mathematics, computer science, statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, or related field
• and three years of professional experience performing data science or informatics work.
• Or High school diploma or equivalent with seven years of professional experience.

Responsibilities

• Translate DOC business requirements into technically sound analytical plans and defensible analytical methods.
• Design analyses, map scoping, and establish evaluation criteria aligned with DOC needs.
• Develop pipelines, automate analyses, and ensure reproducibility and scalability.
• Integrate analytical products into DOC operations for diverse stakeholders.
• Lead and mentor data science staff and contribute to policy and procedural guidance.
