Job summary

Washington State Department of Corrections seeks a Data Science & Informatics Specialist 3 to advance data-driven decisions across the agency. This role leads high-impact projects, designs scalable analytics, and mentors staff to strengthen BIOS/RDA practices.

Responsibilities include translating requirements into analytical plans, building automated pipelines, and delivering actionable insights to leadership and field operations while upholding privacy and data standards.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in informatics, data science, mathematics, CS, statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, or related field.
• One year of professional experience performing data science or informatics work.
• Or Bachelor's degree plus three years of experience in data science or informatics.
• Or high school diploma with seven years of experience in data science or informatics.

Responsibilities

• Translate DOC business requirements into technically sound analytic plans and define evaluation criteria.
• Lead complex analyses, build automated, scalable data solutions, and ensure reproducibility.
• Collaborate with DOC stakeholders to deploy analytics into operations and decision making.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to data governance and DataOps practices.
• Design pipelines and dashboards to communicate findings to diverse audiences.
