Job summary

Excella is seeking a seasoned leader to manage data science teams, guiding AI/ML initiatives from design to deployment across client projects. You will mentor engineers, shape strategy, and ensure analytical solutions deliver measurable business value.

The role combines hands-on technical leadership with stakeholder engagement, requiring strong communication and a track record in production-grade ML systems, Generative AI, and scalable analytics within secure environments.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience leading teams to design, develop and deploy scaled AI/ML solutions (preferably in sensitive contexts).
• Experience with leading Agile AI/ML teams, including AI incubators; strong mentorship of data scientists.
• Experience developing and deploying Generative AI applications in high security contexts.
• 9+ years of experience in predictive analytics using Python or Scala.
• 9+ years of experience applying data science techniques (e.g., clustering, anomaly detection, tree-based models, ensembles, neural nets).
• Experience tracking model performance through product lifecycle; familiarity with ML tooling (MLFlow, DataBricks).
• Proficiency with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and Big Data platforms (Hadoop/Spark).
• Experience with NLP, including Generative AI.
• Preferred: experience in fraud analytics.
• Excellent communication with stakeholders at all levels.
• Self-motivation and continuous learning mindset.
• Familiarity with DORA metrics and Agile Scrum.

• Present findings to executives and translate data concepts into actionable insights.
• Mentor junior and senior data scientists in methodologies and best practices.
• Influence data governance and best practices across the organization.
• Collaborate with client stakeholders to define analysis objectives and deliver results.
