Job summary

Blue Orange Digital, a boutique data & AI consultancy in New York, seeks a client‑facing Solutions Architect/Sales Engineer to own engagements from discovery through production. You will scope, price, write proposals and lead the first sprint with hands‑on technical work.

You have 5+ years in data platform or AI roles, hands‑on SQL/Python, and deep experience with Snowflake or Databricks, dbt, and orchestration tools. Hybrid travel is expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a client-facing technical role at a data platform, analytics, or AI company as a Solutions Architect, Solutions Engineer, Sales Engineer, or technical Account Executive.
• Direct evidence of revenue ownership (quota or named technical owner on deals).
• Hands-on engineering in the last 3 years: SQL and Python, pipelines with dbt, Airflow, or equivalent, production debugging.

Responsibilities

• Own a book of new and existing accounts, carry a services number against it and forecast it accurately.
• Run technical discovery yourself, without waiting for an engineer to join the call.
• Scope engagements and price them, including the parts of the estimate that will hurt if you get them wrong.
• Write the proposal and the SOW, then defend the scope when the client wants more for the same number.
• Stand up the first sprint on engagements you sell, hands-on before handing to delivery.
