Job summary

Total Quality Logistics in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Database Engineer to partner with development teams during design, testing and implementation of in‑house data storage and access solutions. The role focuses on SQL Server with growing expertise in MongoDB, Elasticsearch and other DBMS platforms to support modernization.

You will optimize schemas, queries and indexes, enforce standards, and perform performance testing with Dev and Performance groups.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher or relevant work experience.
• 3–5 years of professional SQL Server experience.
• 1–3 years with MongoDB or Elasticsearch.
• Knowledge of data modeling and normalization.
• Experience with Docker/Kubernetes and DevOps tooling.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with development teams to deliver robust OLTP applications.
• Provide expertise in schema design, query optimization, and indexing.
• Assess the proper database platform based on data needs and availability.
• Create and enforce database standards for security and access methods.
• Conduct performance and stress testing with development and performance teams.
• Translate data needs into structured requests for timely delivery.
• Troubleshoot database issues in non-production environments.
• Coordinate with the DBA team to ensure scalable infrastructure.
