Job summary

Total Quality Logistics in Tampa, FL is seeking a Database Engineer to partner with development teams across the SDLC. The role focuses on SQL Server with MongoDB/Elasticsearch exposure and aims to pre-empt performance/stability issues early in development.

You will design schemas, optimize queries, and enforce database standards while collaborating with DevOps and QA to ensure scalable in-house systems. Strong communication and learning aptitude are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher or relevant work experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• 3–5 years using SQL Server or other relational databases.
• 1–3 years using MongoDB, Elasticsearch or NoSQL databases.
• Familiar with database design, data modeling, and normalization.
• Experience with ORM (Entity Framework).
• Familiar with containerization/orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes/Tilt).
• Familiar with DevOps practices and tools (Git, Azure DevOps, Pipelines).
• Experience with scripting languages (Python, PowerShell).
• Exposure to AI models to accelerate growth.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with app teams to deliver robust OLTP applications.
• Provide expertise in schema design, indexing, and query optimization.
• Select and implement DBMS platforms based on data needs and availability.
• Create and enforce database standards for security and access methods.
• Conduct performance and stress testing with dev and performance teams.
• Translate data needs into structured requests with timely delivery.
• Troubleshoot database issues in non-prod environments.
• Coordinate with DBA teams to ensure scalable infrastructure.
