Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Senior Staff Data Engineer to join the Pipelines and External Data team. This role is remote-eligible with heavy emphasis on data platforms, AWS, and scalable data solutions. You will mentor engineers, shape data strategy, and drive architectural standards across the organization.

You will partner with data scientists, ML experts and product teams to deliver impactful data products while maintaining governance and operational excellence across enterprise data assets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related quantitative field.
• 9+ years of experience in data engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in data architecture.
• 3+ years building applications in AWS.
• 7+ years programming in Python, Java, or Scala.
• 6+ years designing and developing data pipelines.
• 4+ years in data modeling with relational and NoSQL systems.

Responsibilities

• Build awareness, increase knowledge and drive adoption of modern technologies.
• Lead with inclusive environment and grow skills in the Capital One team.
• Promote engineering excellence and reusable solutions.
• Communicate with stakeholders across the enterprise.
• Own end-to-end design and coding of critical data projects.
• Mentor junior engineers and recruit external talent.
• Develop data strategy artifacts and governance policies.
